Tesoros Glassware
Tesoros glassware comes from Tonala Jalisco, Mexico.
Jalisco is locally famous for its ancient culture and traditions, and the most beautiful places are up in the mountains where the blown glasses are made.
The glass is handmade from crushed, recycled bottles, giving a raw material called ‘cullet’. To this is added silicate sand, soda ash and limestone, which is then heated to produce the molten glass.
The craftsman blows the glass on the end of a steel or clay tube. It is re-heated and cooled slowly, often producing small bubbles as it solidifies. Adding various minerals to the glass produces the beautiful colours.
